CLIOH in the field

The CLIOH study portfolio as of 2026. Most are Discovery studies on their way to becoming Triage or Classification CLIOHs once outcome data lands. CLIOH_Acetabular is the lab's one true Phenotype-Boundary instrument.

SCORE-AF

Arthrofibrosis Risk-Factor Ranking

in progress

The founding CLIOH Discovery deployment — pediatric surgeons rank 19 candidate drivers of post-operative arthrofibrosis.

What we learned

The "female-sex paradox" (a counterintuitive mid-rank for sex with a 45% win rate) is interpretable only because the slate happened to span the strength range. That accident motivated the formalization of the Strength-Spread rule that now binds every Discovery study.

CORTICES-Distal-Tibia

Distal-Tibia Growth-Arrest Predictors

in progress

Flagship live instrument — multi-site pairwise ranking of candidate predictors of growth arrest after pediatric distal-tibia physeal injury.

What we learned

The §1.1 anchor audit flagged this as the all-contender / no-anchor cautionary case — the slate had no calibrated low-strength items, producing a compressed BT range and overlapping CIs at the bottom of the ranking.

OR-Priority

OR Booking-Priority Criteria

in progress

Pediatric on-call attendings rank 17 case-feature criteria that drive OR booking urgency.

What we learned

Today the study ranks criteria (Discovery). Deployed on real OR-board cases with outcome linkage it matures into a Triage CLIOH — a covariate-structured BT scoring model.

ER-Priority

ED Triage-Decision Criteria

in progress

Companion study to OR-Priority — k=16 ED triage criteria.

Interurban-2026

Interurban OR-Triage Demonstrator

in progress

A by-design Strength-Spread slate — anchors deliberately at the bottom, contenders at the top — built to demonstrate the maturation path from Discovery into Triage.

MSKI

Pediatric Musculoskeletal Infection Severity

in progress

Severity-driver ranking today; the case-based version (BT case worths + outcome-validated cutpoints) is the canonical Classification maturation target.

What we learned

The one CORTICES Discovery instrument whose severity dimension self-spans the strength range without designed anchors. The maturation version uses ~100 cases linked to length-of-stay, ICU admission, and surgical-revision rate.

CLIOH_Acetabular

Borderline FAI vs Acetabular Dysplasia

in progress

The lab's one genuinely non-Discovery instrument — pairwise classification of borderline hips with outcome linkage to recover the 2-D decision boundary between FAI and acetabular dysplasia.

What we learned

A 2-D boundary problem masquerading as a 1-D ranking. Existing classifications collapse acetabular coverage × femoral morphology onto a single arbitrary threshold; the multidimensional BT recovers the boundary surface and a misclassification audit.
